Beautiful, fashionable and exhibiting a sense of style, Bukky Wright isn’t a Nollywood actress you can strike out of the list of achievers in the entertainment industry. A great role interpreter, she remains one of the best the Yoruba movie genre has produced. A mother of two, Bukky Wright has relocated to the United States of America where she works in the corporate world. Surprised? Don’t be until your read her interview with Owambevibes magazine Owambevibes: 10 years ago, you celebrated your years of service in the film industry, how has the experience been? How would you rate yourself now?
I thank God for His mercies over my life. I also thank Him for making the brand, Bukky Wright, a success and one that the world reckons with. My career journey has been a fantastic one for me and I believe we all get better by the day. So, I can say that I’ve improved myself in a lot of ways. Owambevibes: Is the Bukky Wright Foundation still operating now that you are based abroad? Yes. Owambevibes: If you were not an actress, what would you have become? I would have been a business entrepreneur or in the corporate world that I am now. Owambevibes: Did you grow up nurturing thoughts of been an actress?
No, I never dreamt of acting as a child until I started watching the children’s television series on NTA, “Tales by Moonlight.” Owambevibes: It is a world of glamour and make-belief, how have you been able to be above board? The world waits for no one. That simply means, you always must evolve. Owambevibes: What reasons relocated you abroad? It seems you are not contemplating of returning to Nigeria in a long while?
Well, I decided to go back to school to do my Masters and do other things. Don’t forget that my two sons are abroad too. I needed to be with them while they grow up Owambevibes: Do you do other things apart from acting? Yes, I’m a certified Information security analyst Owambevibes: When and how do you attend to other aspects of your life? I always prioritize my goal and tasks. Owambevibes: Are there plans to remarry? Who is the lucky man? Yes, but there’s no lucky man yet. Owambevibes: Many tend to think you are a very proud woman just because of your beauty and influence, are you proud? I can say that I’m not a proud person but a proud mother of two young men that God has given me (laughs). But, because I’m an introvert that minds her business, stay on my lane and don’t take shit from no one, people would call it pride. Owambevibes: Do your kids feel comfortable with your job? Absolutely yes.My first son is into entertainment as a musician and I’m proud of him. Owambevibes: How have you managed bad press? As Bukky Wright, I’ve grown a thick skin over the years. Owambevibes: What has been your most unforgettable incident since you became an actress? I do not cry over spilled milk. Owambevibes: What has been your greatest works? Your challenges and what has made you shed tears in the profession? The movie, Omotara Johnson. T remains a block-buster till date. Owambevibes: Kindly state your educational background? I attended Kola Way To Success in Odogbolu, St Paul’s Anglican Isolo, MHS Okota, Top Tutors’ College Ilupeju, University of Lagos, Akoka; European American University, Int MBA Institute USA. Owambevibes: What are your hobbies?
I love watching movies alot, I listen to music and I love cooking. I also love traveling and reading. Owambevibes: What are your beauty secrets? I drink lot of water, very fussy about what I eat and I exercise too. However, these are not what make one look graceful, I think I am just a recipient of God’s grace. Owambevibes: Any likes or dislikes? Oh! I love genuine people. I hate when people are faking it.
